what can dermal fillers do for me?

Dermal fillers are injectable products which are used to correct or enhance facial contours, soften the appearance of wrinkles and to improve the tone, texture and hydration of the skin. Most are formulated from hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule found in the skin and soft tissues of the body that attracts and binds water in the skin providing volume and hydration. With age, facial tissues have a reduced capacity to keep strong and supple and the breakdown of collagen and shrinking or displacement of fat pads will cause the typical signs of ageing such as loss of volume and both fine or deep lines and wrinkles.

Modern dermal filler products such as Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane and Teosyl are well researched with excellent safety records, are incredibly versatile and can be used for a wide range of applications to achieve natural looking results. They are a perfect non-surgical solution to achieving younger looking skin and smoothing tired lines and wrinkles, providing often immediate results with, frequently, minimum recovery time. They can be used in the following ways:

  • To correct or enhance facial contours; cheeks, temples, jawline, nose, chin

  • To define, correct or enhance lips

  • To soften and correct facial wrinkles or folds

  • To restore lost volume in hands to reduce the appearance of veins and tendons

  • To correct hollows under the eyes (tear troughs)

  • To improve the tone, texture and hydration of the skin

There is no one size fits all when it comes to dermal fillers, each individual may require different products, volumes and techniques to achieve their desired outcome. During your personalised consultation we can discuss your concerns and following a thorough facial assessment, I will recommend a bespoke treatment plan aimed at achieving the results you are hoping for.

facial contouring

As we age, it is usual for the face to lose volume due to changes in our facial tissues, such as shrinking and movement of the fat pads and bone loss leading to changes in the shape of our facial bones.

These changes are directly responsible for the signs of facial ageing that most of us will experience to some degree or another as we get older. Our faces can lose their definition with cheeks appearing flatter, hollows and shadows appearing and jawlines becoming softer, and lines and folds can start to appear, especially around the lower face.

Dermal fillers are able to reduce all these signs of ageing by replacing lost volume and, when strategically placed, can anchor the facial tissues back into position to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Facial restoration treatment is tailored to each individuals specific facial anatomy which means the placement and volume of dermal fillers required will vary from person to person.

For lower face contouring, I may use the 7-point or 9-point Face Shape - a special approach using the MD Codes system that was designed specifically  to lift the cheeks and reshape the jawline and chin. This approach may also benefit younger patients by helping to re-balance their natural facial shape and features.
